2012-13 EMS Course Description Guide

Counseling Services:

Counselors offer a variety of services to all of the seventh and eighth graders at Eastern.

Individual Counseling:
Counselors are available for you privately to discuss: friendship concerns, family concerns, school concerns, physical changes or concerns, fears of worries, achievements and joys.

Classroom Guidance:
Counselors teach classroom lessons regarding: career exploration, relationships, understanding of self, understanding of others, decision-making, organizational skills, and study skills.

Small Group Sessions:
Counselors organize small support groups regarding issues such as: coping with changing families, coping with grief, creating friendship connections and acclimating new students.

Counseling Appointments:
An appointment with a counselor can be arranged in a variety of ways: self-referral, teacher referral, parent referral, counselor referral, or principal referral. Appointment forms are available at Mrs. White’s desk in the EMS Main Office.
