As we embark on our eighth year, we begin another new journey as a school with our new principal Steve Harvey. We look forward to growing as a staff and achieving new goals together. Art News
Laura Maier was selected for a KISD Purchase Award last weekend during the Congressional Art Award Show held at the Gerald R. Ford Museum. Three of our high school art students were present to show their work. Mikaela Walsh, Brennan McNamara and Laura Maier are all advanced art students in the Drawing and Painting Classes at Eastern High. Read more
VSA ~Very Special Arts Day~
Students from both Eastern High and Eastern Middle School joined many other students and adult volunteers for VSA Day 2012. Very Special Arts Day is a great event held at Lincoln Developmental School. VSA Day is like an Artistic Field Day for the students with special needs that attend Lincoln Developmental Center. EHS Student honored by receiving the prestigious Roger B Chaffee Scholarship
Timothy Joel (TJ) DeVries dreams of using his exceptional math and science abilities to solve a complex problem that helps people. That desire is one of the reasons the Forest Hills Eastern senior is this year’s recipient of the prestigious Roger B. Chaffee Scholarship.The $2,500 scholarship is the oldest in the county, created in honor of the Grand Rapids astronaut who died in the Apollo I space capsule fire Jan. 27, 1967. Read more
Distracted Driving Awareness Video Contest
Thursday night the Kent County Sheriff’s Department awarded the winners of the Distracted Driving Awareness Program.
The campaign challenges high school students at 22 schools to create public service announcements to encourage people against texting and driving. The students created merchandise designs, billboard designs, along with radio and TV ads. Read more
