Welcome to Central Woodlands!

Welcome to Central Woodlands 5/6 School located within the Forest Hills School District, one of our Nation’s great public school systems!  This summer we have been busy working on a new website which we are pleased to unveil to you.

We invite you to explore our new site and learn more about the district and what makes Central Woodlands so unique. The new site offers many exciting facts, figures, features and new functionality: A new Interactive Google Calendar for both the District and our school, thus enabling you to add either calendar to your other calendars; School Directories are now embedded Google Docs making it easy for you to access information; Search functionality; new Google Maps enable you to get walking, biking and driving directions to school with real-time traffic updates; Local Weather Forecasts; District-wide and school specific news updates; many news updates made in real time by members of our teaching staff; compatibility with all browsers-iPads, iPhones, and most Smart Phone devices; and a Twitter News Alert System which will enable you to receive  school closing and delay news to your favorite mobile device.

We hope you find this website to be a useful resource for information – whether you are a prospective family, parent, student, or a community stakeholder.  Like all websites, you will be able to find lots of information, interesting news and facts, and helpful tools.  However, even with the best modern technology has to offer, sometimes there is no substitute for a human connection.  We invite you to visit our main officeemail us, or contact our main office number at (616)  493-8790 where we will be happy to help you.

Thank you for your interest in and your support of Central Woodlands.

Sincerely,

Robert Blitchok
Principal

Team Day Celebration, Friday, November 11

Our Team Day celebration is coming up on Friday, November 11th, which is also Veteran’s Day.  Part of the celebration will involve honoring our veterans in a few different ways.  In the week leading up to Team Day, the PTO would like to sponsor an all-school service project collecting items for residents at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.  If you can participate, we ask that items be dropped off in the school lobby anytime between Monday, November 7th-Thursday, November 10th.  We can then deliver the items on Veteran’s Day to the home.

The Home for Veterans said the following items are especially needed during the holiday season.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated to make this time of year brighter for our Veterans.

100 piece Jigsaw puzzles, postage stamps, coloring books for adults, lighters, D, D and AAA batteries, body wash (popular brand is White Rain Body Wash), hot chocolate mix, new socks and underwear for clothing room, full size or snack size candy bars, After shave (plastic container), Diabetic socks, Electric razors, pre-electric shave (plastic container), large print books for library (Suspense, Romance, and Bibles), warm clothing (all sizes-special need for very small and very large sizes) and craft supplies (scissors, construction paper, glue sticks, markers, colored pencils, crayons).
