Ada School Music Program
Tuesday April 17th Ada first through fourth graders put on a wonderful music program under the direction of Miss D’Archangelis. In our own Fine Arts Center they celebrated the seasons with each class having a special part in the program. Read more
Enjoying the Heat Wave!
Ada students got a chance to bask in the sunshine last week. Students had the opportunity to enjoy their lunches picnic style during our unseasonably warm and sunny Spring weather.
Usually they do not have the chance to lunch outdoors until the end of the school year. Mother Nature was kind to us this year though and sent us a little preview of what was to come. Fresh air and sunshine does a lot to wet the appetite and promote good digestion. The rays also boosted everyone’s spirits! Hooray for sunshine!
Bringing the Past to Life at Ada Elementary
On March 22, Ada had a blast from the past! Mackinaw Players came to Ada Elementary to bring the third and fourth grade classes a little bit of Michigan’s history. Dressed as a British soldier and a French colonist, they explained the fur trade, travel through the straights of Mackinaw, what life was like at the forts, and many other interesting facts about Michigan. Students had some hands-on discovery.
4th Grade elects their own Governor
On Thursday March 15th Ada Elementary 4th Graders elected their own Governor! The candidates campaigned, made posters and gave speeches during Government Day. Read more
4th Grade Visits Lansing
Ada Elementary 4th grade students visited Lansing on February 27. They toured the State Capitol building and learned a lot about how our government works and about Michigan history.
Nutritional Smoothies
On Tuesday, February 7, the Forest Hills Food Service Department arranged to have Brian Brookman, chef from Fulton Manor, come to Ada to make smoothies for the children during their lunch hour. Mr. Brookman arrived in his chef hat and prepared fruit smoothies consisting of various fruits, yogurt, milk and natural sweeteners. The children were able to choose the fruit they wanted and watch as he whipped them up in blenders. Everyone enjoyed this special lunch time treat.
Ada Reader Celebration Night
On February 3, author Susan Collins Thoms was at Ada Elementary to celebrate with the Ada Readers to share the process of publishing a book. The evening was filled with reptiles, games and reading. Students who earned either two badges or charms were invited to attend this fun filled evening.
Teacher of the Week - Fox News 17
FOX News 17 recently chose our very own 2nd grade teacher, Marilyn Myers, as their “Teacher of the Week”. Fox News 17 was at Ada Elementary interviewing Marilyn and some of her students. Marilyn talks about her students and the unique, comfortable learning environment she has created for her classroom. Second Grade Service Project
Second graders made and sold holiday items at Ada last week to raise money for the Angel Tree.
New Playground Equipment
New playground equipment that was partially donated by our PTO, was installed the beginning of November. Read more
